Bac Giang promotes traffic connection with neighbouring Thai Nguyen

Updated: 21:32, 01/04/2024

BAC GIANG - Bac Giang province has been investing in building inter-provincial connection roads, opening up new development spaces with neighbouring localities, including Thai Nguyen province. One of the important projects is the road connecting National Highways 37 and 17 with Thai Nguyen’s Vo Nhai district. The section in Bac Giang province has been basically completed, while the Thai Nguyen section is under urgent construction.

Bac Giang section basically completed

Construction on the road connecting National Highways 37 and 17 with Vo Nhai district (Thai Nguyen) started at the end of December 2021. The road passes through Viet Yen township and Tan Yen and Yen The district of Bac Giang.

The Bac Giang section of the road connecting National Highways 37 and 17 with Vo Nhai district has been basically completed.

This project includes a 42-km main route and a branch route measuring over 13.6 km, with a total investment of about 1.4 trillion VND (56 million USD), sourced from the central and provincial budgets.

The main route begins at Km0+00 intersecting with National Highways 37 and 17 and Provincial Road 292 at a location near Lai Nghien pumping station in Viet Yen town, and ends at Canh Nau commune, Yen The district at Km42+070, ending the territory of Bac Giang province and connecting to a road in Binh Long commune, Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen province.

On the route, there are seven bridges across canals and streams; drainage systems and some intersections and items to ensure traffic safety. The project is invested by the provincial Transport and Agricultural Works Construction Investment Project Management Unit.

This is a key project of the province, playing an important role in strengthening the connection between Viet Yen township, Tan Yen and Yen The districts of Bac Giang and Thai Nguyen’s Vo Nhai district. Clearly identifying that importance, immediately after commencing construction, the provincial leaders directed the investor and contractors to speed up the project progress.

Because the route is long and passes through many areas with complex terrains, construction is quite difficult. Taking advantage of the favorable weather, the contractors have arranged workers to work overtime and at night with the hope of soon putting the project into operation to serve residents.

With those efforts, the branch route has been handed over and put into use while construction on the main route’s section through Viet Yen township and Tan Yen district has been basically completed.

So far, about 90% of the workload on the main route has been completed, with the contractors asphalting the road surface for nearly 39 out of 42 km. At present, construction is being sped up on the main route’s section passing through Yen The district and connecting to Vo Nhai district.

Thai Nguyen urgently implements the project

The road connecting with Thai Nguyen province’s Vo Nhai district is being built, so not only the people in Bac Giang but those in Thai Nguyen are also longing for it every day.

The contractor is constructing a section bordering Thai Nguyen province of the road connecting National Highways 37 and 17 with Vo Nhai district.

Since the project kicked off, Binh Long commune has coordinated with Bac Giang to clear the land related to about 30 households, all of whom agreed with compensation plans. Currently, the commune has reviewed and prepared for the clearance of land owned by about 70 households to build the road section in Thai Nguyen province.

Regarding this project, on August 12, 2021, the People's Council of Thai Nguyen province gave in-principle approval to a road project connecting Provincial Road 265 in Binh Long commune, Vo Nhai district with Bac Giang. The road has a total length of 6.2 km, with the starting point intersecting with Provincial Road 265 at Km21+500 in Binh Long commune and the ending point intersecting with the road connecting National Highways 37 and 17 with Vo Nhai.

Although the project obtained in-principle approval in 2021, it is 2024 that Thai Nguyen province has just arranged capital for implementation. According to the provincial Department of Transport, the investor is finalizing survey documents and a feasibility study report to be submitted for appraisal and approval in April 2024.

The department will propose the provincial People's Committee to allocate capital to ensure the progress as required; while coordinating with and guiding the investor to comply with legal regulations during implementation.

With high determination, construction on the section is expected to start in the third quarter of 2024 and be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
