According to Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) Nguyen Duc Loi, who is also head of the festival’s organising board, the 2024 National Press Festival with a hive of activities gained great success. This is the first time the National Press Festival was held in Southern Vietnam at a big scale.

The booth of the Journalists Association of Bac Giang and northern mountainous provinces won B prize.

The festival brought together 120 booths displaying outstanding publications from 63 provinces and cities. With many exchange activities, the Press Festival helped to connect journalists together and promote relationships between the press and public.

At the event, Nguyen Trong Nghia, head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education praised VJA and related units for successfully organising the 2024 National Press Festival, which left good impression as a highlight of the professionalism and modernity of the Vietnamese press

The themed “Vietnamese Press - Pioneering, Innovation for the Revolutionary Cause of the Party and the People” was demonstrated by practical and attractive events, exhibitions, forums and tasks, which opened up new knowledge, strengthened solidarity among press agencies and local journalist associations and foster the bonds between the press and public.

He urged press agencies to focus on popularising the implementation of the socio-economic development tasks, spreading good and compassionate values in society, and bringing Party, State, and Government guidelines, policies and laws into life, thus meeting the expectations of all people. He also asked them to strengthen the work of building a clean and strong Party, constantly fostering and improving political bravery, revolutionary ethics, and professional expertise for journalists.

Within the framework of the National Press Festival, the organising board and awards council awarded 11 A, 29 B, 53 C, and 88 consolation prizes in the categories of best displaying booth, impressive Tet radio programme, impressive Tet television programme, impressive Tet electronic newspaper interface, and impressive Tet newspaper cover.

Particularly, the Journalists Association of Bac Giang province and northern mountainous provinces won B prize at the category of best displaying booth. Bac Giang Newspaper bagged a consolation prize for impressive Tet electronic newspaper interface. Bac Giang Radio and Television also won a consolation prize at the category of impressive Tet television programme with the work “Heritage keepers”.

The National Press Awards Council announced on June 2 that they voted to select nine A, 24 B and 46 C prizes, and a number of consolation prizes to be awarded during a ceremony on June 21, which is concurrent with the 98th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.
