Nearly 34 million USD to build Cam Ly railway bridge

BAC GIANG - The Ministry of Transport has just approved for Cam Ly railway bridge project in Luc Nam district (Bac Giang province) on the Kep-Ha Long railway route with a total estimated investment of more than 796 billion VND (nearly 39 million USD) to separate the railway bridge and ensure safety. 

The project has a total length of about 3,267 m. The first point intersects with National Highway 37, passing through Cam Ly commune. The final point is at Bac Lung commune (Luc Nam district).

It consists of third class plain road to serve design speed of 80 km per hour, 2 lanes, 12 m wide roadbed, two new bridges of 12 meter width (Cam Ly bridge is more than 631 m long and the railway overpass is nearly 288 m long) which are constructed with reinforced concrete, pre-stressed reinforced concrete.

There are also horizontal and vertical drainage systems, lighting systems, trees, traffic safety signs on the routes.

After the new bridge is completed, the Ministry of Transport will adjust the traffic organization solution of the existing Cam Ly railway bridge exclusively for railways.

The Ministry of Transport assignedthe Railway Project Management Board as the investor. The investment preparation and project implementation were started in 2023 so as to basically complete the project in 2025.

The project aims to reduce the load on the current railway bridge, ensure smooth circulation of the railway in Bac Giang area, minimize impacts on railway operations and exploitation and gradually complete National Highway 37 according to planning.

Also, it helps strengthen connectivity and improve exploitation capacity to meet transport needs on the transport corridor from Bac Giang and Hai Duong to localities in the Northern key economic region.

During the implementation, the Ministry of Transport required the Railway Project Management Board to establish and strictly manage the construction progress; review, calculate and propose to the Ministry each year's capital needs in accordance with the ability to balance public investment capital according to regulations based on the volume and progress.
