Original designs of national emblem displayed in Hanoi

Nearly 200 documentary archives and original sketches of the Vietnamese national emblem produced by late painter Bui Trang Chuoc are being displayed at the State Archives and Records Administration in Hanoi to mark the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution on August 19 and the National Day on September 2.

It is also an interesting story associated with the life and career of talented painter Bui Trang Chuoc.

The exhibition is divided into three parts. The first part, titled "Vietnam National Emblem - Symbol of National Pride", introduces a number of documents and images of the Vietnamese National Emblem shown on events and locations on land as well as borders and seas and islands, in important papers, thereby showing the importance and sacredness of the Vietnam National Emblem.

Of the painter's 112 sketches of the national emblem, from general to detailed, 15 were submitted to the Prime Minister in October 1954 for a final decision.

"The journey to create the Vietnamese national emblem" is the topic of second part, which introduces some of the original texts for the creation of the Vietnamese national emblem and the creative journey of the national emblem of painter Bui Trang Chuoc, from the first sketches with bamboo, buffalo and rice, diverse shapes, rich colours, and familiar themes and narratives about the artist's journey to the final composition of the national emblem.
