Viet Yen spends over one million USD to repair and embellish Dong communal house

BAC GIANG - To preserve and promote the cultural and historical values ​​of special national relics of Dong communal house in Dong residential group of Bich Dong ward (Viet Yen township, Bac Giang province), the People's Committee of Viet Yen township invested 25 billion VND (over one million USD) from local budget to implement the project to restore and embellish this monument (Project).

According to the Construction Investment Project Management Board of Viet Yen township (the unit assigned to be the investor), the Project consists of several items of repairing the communal house, main door, and harem; buying more furniture and altar items; building a new ritual gate and courtyard system.

As schedule, the Projects will be started in May 2024 and completed in 2025.

Currently, the investor is coordinating with functional agencies to submit to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for comments on scale and methods to repair and renovate Dong communal house.

The Dong communal house was built during the reign of Le Trung Hung (18th century) with a majestic scale, including a 5-compartment front hall with 2 wings connected to a 3-compartment harem building.

On December 19, 1892, leader Hoang Hoa Tham and more than 400 soldiers held a flag offering ceremony at Dong communal house.

Also from that historical event, Dong communal house became an important relic associated with the Yen The uprising.

Therefore, when the project is completed, it will not only preserve the Dong communal house relics but also attracts tourists to visit and worship, contributing to the development of local tourism.
