Updated: 16:14, 19/02/2025

Hanoi has approved plans to construct a 50-km-long road linking the city center to Gia Binh International Airport, a planned project in neighboring Bac Ninh Province.

The road will run approximately 28 km within Hanoi, spannin120 meters wide. The route will include sections overlapping with the Hanoi–Thai Nguyen Expressway and Ring Road 3 that runs past many of Hanoi's districts.

Hanoi and Bac Ninh authorities are also exploring urban development along a 300–400 meter corridor on both sides of the road.

Initiated by the Ministry of Public Security last December, Gia Binh Airport, located in Bac Ninh's Gia Binh District, will serve both civilian and military purposes.

The Ministry of Transport recently approved adjustments to the national airport development master plan for 2021–2030, with a vision toward 2050, according to a report on Vietnam Government Portal on Monday.

Under the revised plan, Gia Binh International Airport will cover 363.5 hectares, and is expected to accommodate one million passengers by 2030 and up to three million by 2050.
