Bac Giang attracts labourers to work in businesses

Updated: 08:59, 06/03/2024
BAC GIANG - As businesses in Bac Giang province need a large number of workers to serve production activities, authorities at all levels and relevant agencies are focusing on attracting workers from other provinces to Bac Giang.

Increasing recruitment demand

Currently, the province has more than 7,600 operating enterprises, creating jobs for 306,000 people, of which about 80% are local workers. Most businesses apply a basic salary of 5 million VND (202 USD) per person per month, and pay social insurance and health insurance premiums for employees according to regulations, along with many other welfares.

The average monthly income of employees at businesses in the province is nearly 8 million VND per person. In foreign-invested enterprises, the average wage is from 8-12 million VND per person per month.

Many businesses have expanded their production scale and signed new orders, so they need to recruit a large number of workers. According to statistics from the Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA), in 2024, local factories demand more than 100,000 workers, mainly in electronics and garment industries.

A representative of Luxshare-ICT Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that this year, the company needs about 40,000 workers for four electronic component assembly and production factories in the Quang Chau and Van Trung Industrial Parks. In the second quarter, the factory in the Van Trung Industrial Park alone needs 7,000-9,000 workers per month to fulfill orders.

In the first six months of this year, the Foxconn Technology Group needs 15,000 workers for its factories located in the Dinh Tram and Quang Chau IPs. The figure for the whole year is over 27,000.

Businesses are taking many solutions to recruit workers such as posting recruitment information on social platforms; coordinating with the employment service centers of provinces and cities to inform recruitment demands; and signing cooperation agreements with human resource supply units...

In its plan to attract workers to work at enterprises in Bac Giang province, the provincial People's Committee has required competent units and localities to inform workers inside and outside the province about recruitment needs of businesses.

They were urged to create favourable conditions for labourers from other provinces who wish to come to work in Bac Giang; and organise conferences to attract workers from other provinces in both face-to-face and online formats. Attention should be paid to recruiting soldiers after demobilization and encouraging vocational schools to improve foreign language proficiency and skills for students.

The provincial People's Committee is preparing conditions to send working delegations to provinces, colleges and universities to exchange and agree on plans to coordinate activities to support job creation for workers and ensure workforce for businesses in the province.

In order to attract workers, businesses should also lower recruitment standards in terms of age, skills and qualifications, as well as improved working conditions. For example, units recruit workers from 18 to 40 years old instead of those aged 18-35 as before.

Currently, about 20% of workers and employees in businesses who come from other provinces need to rent housing and the number will continue to increase in the near future. To meet their need for boarding houses, Party committees and authorities at all levels in the province have directed the implementation of social housing projects and the mobilisation of businesses’ and households’ engagement in building dormitories and boarding houses for workers.

The provincial Labour Federation has coordinated with localities to encourage households to build civilized and safe boarding houses for workers.
