Exchange activities launched to learn about traditional opera

(BGO) – The Museum in Bac  Giang province on November 23 coordinated with Hoang Mai Cheo (traditional opera) Club in Nenh town (Viet Yen district) to organize exchange activities to learn about the traditional art form.

At the event, nearly 250 students of 6 schools in Bac Giang city, including provincial Ethnic Boarding High School, Giap Hai High School, Ngo Si Lien Secondary School, Le Loi Secondary School, Tran Phu Secondary School, Tran Nguyen Han Secondary School had chance to watch cheo performances of Meritorious Artist Do Thi Khoa (79 years old), Chairwoman of Hoang Mai Cheo Club and its members.

The students were introduced about the history, origin, use of instrument and costume in Cheo art form. They joined the exchange activities to answer the questions relating to traditional cheo, ancient melodies, lands and localities with rich tradition of cheo preservation...as well as several folk games of tug of war, sack jumping, blind man’s buff...

Hoang Mai Cheo Club performs the melody of “Hat ve Hoang Mai que em” (Singing about my homeland Hoang Mai).

The activity was to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23) which helped partly preserve and promote the cultural heritage value, educate the patriotism, national pride and responsibility to protect the world heritage among the young generation.
