Updated: 17:10, 20/04/2025

BAC GIANG — On April 19, the People’s Committee of Bac Giang Province (PPC) held a grand ceremony to inaugurate the newly constructed road connecting National Highways 37 and 17 to Vo Nhai District in Thai Nguyen Province.

The new road, which runs through Viet Yen township, Tan Yen district and Yen The district (Bac Giang) en route to Vo Nhai district (Thai Nguyen province), was built at a total cost of over 1.452 trillion VND (63.1 million USD) sourced from both central and provincial budgets.

Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the road connecting National Highways 37-17 to Vo Nhai (Thai Nguyen).

The project was commenced in December 2021, consisting of a main route stretching over 42 km and a branch road nearly 13.8 km long.

Specifically, the main route includes two segments. The first section starts from National Highway 37 to Provincial Road 294 to National Highway 17, which is 28.5 km long, built to Grade III standards for flat terrain, featuring a 12-meter-wide roadbed and an 11-meter-wide pavement.

The other is from National Highway 17 to Vo Nhai district, which is 13.6 km long, constructed to Grade III mountainous standards, with a 9-meter-wide roadbed and an 8-meter-wide pavement.

The project also features seven bridges spanning canals and streams along the route.

The branch road, which stretches from Tan Soi T-junction (Yen The) to Phuc Son Commune (Tan Yen), meets Grade III flat terrain standards with a 12-meter-wide roadbed and an 11-meter-wide pavement.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan The Tuan emphasized that the road's completion is expected to spur socio-economic growth in the region, enhance connectivity between Viet Yen, Tan Yen, and Yen The (Bac Giang) and Vo Nhai (Thai Nguyen) as well as facilitate investment in industrial parks and high-tech agriculture zones across the province.

Vehicles travel on National Highway 37-17 to Vo Nhai (Thai Nguyen).

He also urged local authorities and relevant agencies to ensure efficient management, operation and maintenance of the road, guaranteeing long-term safety and sustainability.

On this occasion, one collective and 17 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding contributions to the planning and execution of the project.

The inauguration is part of a series of projects completed nationwide to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification on April 30 (1975–2025).
