The works were painted in the 18th and 19th century, during which Japanese arts were witnessing exchanges in techniques and materials with western countries, creating high-valued works that combined both traditional and modern elements.

The paintings of Maiko (left) and mountains are among five precious Japanese paintings presented to Vietnam by Japanese collector Ito Chihiro.

The paintings were drawn vertically, portraying Japanese culture, like the painting of a peacock by painter Nishida Syunkou, a mountain by painter Hakuhou or those of Maiko by painter Kubota Syousui, among which Maiko is an apprentice geisha performing dancing, singing and playing traditional musical instrument in pubs or during parties.

(BGO) – I have visited the Army Corps 2 many times but last April was the first time I visited the Corps 2 Museum. It now keeps hundreds of artifacts associated with the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, including a special blood painting featuring Uncle Ho by Colonel, painter Le Duy Ung.
