Five precious Japanese paintings belonging to Japanese collector Ito Chihiro have been presented to the Museum of Vietnam History in Ho Chi Minh City.

The works were painted in the 18th and 19th century, during which Japanese arts were witnessing exchanges in techniques and materials with western countries, creating high-valued works that combined both traditional and modern elements.

The paintings were drawn vertically, portraying Japanese culture, like the painting of a peacock by painter Nishida Syunkou, a mountain by painter Hakuhou or those of Maiko by painter Kubota Syousui, among which Maiko is an apprentice geisha performing dancing, singing and playing traditional musical instrument in pubs or during parties.
