Bac Giang creates favorable conditions for lychee traders and enterprises
BAC GIANG - On April 21, Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People's Committee (PPC) Pham Van Thinh chaired a working session with Central Retail Group about enhancing cooperation to consume Bac Giang’s lychee and other agricultural products.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, Bac Giang aims to maintain 29,700 hectares of lychee cultivation this year, with an estimated output of 165,000 tonnes.

Of this, 8,000 hectares are early-season lychees, expected to yield about 60,600 tonnes while the remaining 21,700 hectares are in the main season, projected to produce over 104,300 tonnes.
The early-season harvest is expected from May 20 to June 15 and the main season from June 10 to July 15.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice President of Central Retail Group in Vietnam Paul Le praised Bac Giang’s continuous efforts to improve lychee production standards in recent years.
He affirmed that Bac Giang lychee is of high quality, exceptionally fragrant and sweet so the fruit is increasingly favored in various markets such as Europe, the US and Southeast Asia.

He emphasized Central Retail Group’s long-term commitment to working with local farmers to expand markets for Bac Giang lychees.
Paul Le also suggested the province focus on both enhancing quality and building a strong, sustainable brand for lychees, improving packaging and labeling and applying advanced preservation technologies to extend shelf life and reach more distant markets.
Representative from GO! supermarket chain under Central Retail Group proposed Bac Giang to develop deep processing techniques and diversify lychee-based products.
They also recommended applying advanced preservation methods so that consumers can enjoy lychees year-round while calling for more support for local cooperatives producing other agricultural goods like Yen The hill chickens and clean vegetables, enabling these products to enter the GO! supermarket system.

The PPC Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh highlighted the province’s commitment to market diversification, both domestically and internationally, and reaffirmed the determination to create the most favorable conditions for enterprises and traders purchasing lychees.
The province will continue to direct agencies and localities in lychee-growing areas to implement comprehensive solutions to support the smooth flow of lychee sales, including preparing logistics, auxiliary services and input materials.
He also introduced Bac Giang’s strategic advantages, especially after the potential merger of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces and encouraged Central Retail Group to explore further investment and cooperation opportunities in Bac Giang’s agricultural sector.
