Hai Phong Port TIL International Terminal officially commences operations
MSC Makalu III, the first commercial vessel on the Orchid service route operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), docked at berths No. 3 and 4 of the Haiphong Port TIL International Terminal (HTIT), located in the Lach Huyen deep-water port area in Cat Hai District, Hai Phong.
The MSC Makalu III, measuring 210 metres in length with a gross tonnage of 38,629 tonnes, carried 484 import containers, equivalent to 829 TEUs. The successful receipt of this vessel not only marks the commercial debut of the terminal but also affirms its capacity to handle large-tonnage ships.

It demonstrates HHIT’s readiness to deeply integrate into the global maritime supply chain.
The official operation of the terminal highlighted Hai Phong Port’s leading capabilities in the region and reinforces the pivotal role of Hai Phong Port JSC as the core operator in northern Vietnam.
Hai Phong Port currently manages and operates several key terminals, including Hoang Dieu, Chua Ve, Dinh Vu, Tan Vu, and the TIL International Terminal in the Lach Huyen Port area.
Once fully operational, the TIL International Terminal is expected to significantly boost Hai Phong Port JSC’s market share in the region by up to 40% for container cargo and 60% for non-container cargo.
In March 2025, Hai Phong Port recorded positive growth with a consolidated throughput of 3.29 million tonnes and total revenue of 227.37 billion VND, reaching 119% of the month’s target.
Entering the second quarter of 2025, Hai Phong Port continues to strengthen its market engagement and maintain regular communication with shipping lines to share challenges related to changing tax policies, while promptly adapting to service route changes to proactively support customers.
At the same time, the port is actively promoting new services, optimising berth arrangement, enhancing customer service quality, and improving cost control.
