Industrial promotion funding prioritizes OCOP product development
BAC GIANG - Bac Giang has many typical and quality industrial and rural agricultural products. The province has recently prioritized industrial promotion funding to support rural industrial establishments with selected products, especially products participating in the One Commune One Product Program (OCOP), thereby helping enhance competitiveness, product value and income for people.
Hang Anh Cooperative in Vang village, Huong Vi commune (Yen The district) was established in 2018, specializing in producing herbal tea in filter bags, including 2 main products: Solanum procumbens tea and polyscias fruticosa tea.

From 2018 to 2021, the Cooperative produced about 1 tonne of products per year. At the end of 2021, the Cooperative was supported by the Provincial Center for Industry and Trade Promotion with 200 million VND (corresponding to 50% of the total machine value) to buy 1 tea bag packaging machine with packaging capacity from 20 -40 tea bags per minute.
Phan Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of the Cooperative, shared that thanks to the automatic tea packaging machine, the Cooperative’s productivity nearly tripled the previous quantity and the price decreased because there was no need to hire outsourcing, so consumption was convenient.
In August 2024, Hung Uyen Cordyceps Mushroom Cultivation Cooperative (Hung Uyen Cooperative) in Tu Mai commune (Yen Dung district) received 300 million VND from the Provincial Center for Industry and Trade Promotion to invest in a freeze dryer made in Vietnam with a drying capacity of 50 kg of fresh mushrooms per batch per 37 hours to make 8 kg of dried product (only consumes about 500,000 VND in electricity per drying batch).
According to Nguyen Thi Uyen, Director of the Cooperative, dried cordyceps mushrooms cost 8 million VND per kg which gives profit of about 3.2 million VND excluding the production cost.
As of October 2024, the whole province has 334 OCOP products rated 3 stars or higher. In recent times, the province has actively supported to improve the quality and develop OCOP products through industrial promotion activities such as supporting to build technical demonstration models, transfer technology, apply advanced machinery, scientific and technical progress as well as assist to develop typical rural industrial products, design and pilot labels, packaging and product traceability stamps among others.
Of the total 334 OCOP products, from industrial promotion funding, the Provincial Center for Industry and Trade Promotion has supported the owners of 115 OCOP products (including production machinery, design and printing of packaging labels).
Since 2020, the Center has supported production machinery and equipment for 14 Cooperatives and 5 enterprises with 24 OCOP products, with a total support cost of 3.2 billion VND.

The support activities focused on developing OCOP products in the field of agricultural, forestry, food and beverage processing such as: Rice noodles, lychees, oranges, grapefruit, mushrooms, wine, honey and Danh mountain ginseng.
It helped motivate and encourage owners of OCOP products to boldly invest in production development, exploit the potential of land and traditional local agricultural products, improve product value and increase income for people, especially in rural and mountainous areas.
Financial support for industrial promotion gradually helps businesses and cooperatives increase production scale, improve management and organization models, constantly improve product standards and quality to meet the highly increasing demand of the market.
