Luc Nam exploits potential and develops OCOP products
BAC GIANG – Luc Nam district is considered a locality with many potentials and advantages when participating in the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Programme in Bac Giang province. The district has recently aroused and promoted its strengths to bring hometown products further, increase the value and income for producers.
The OCOP programme has become a widespread production movement in the agricultural and rural areas of Luc Nam district, helping stimulate the demand for producing typical agricultural products and exploit the internal strength of the people.

The whole district currently has 28 OCOP products (exceeding the target by 20 products), 25 of which were rated 3-star and three were recognized 4-star products (golden flower tea, dried cordyceps and Bao Son golden sticky rice wine). By the end of the year, Luc Nam district expects to have 5 more OCOP products.
According to the representative of the district's Division of Agriculture and Rural Development, when implementing the OCOP Programme, Luc Nam has the advantage of concentrated production areas with diverse agricultural products and craft villages.
Specifically, the district develops lychee, longan, pineapple and custard apple production areas that meet VietGAP standards in some key communes such as Binh Son, Nghia Phuong, Vo Tranh, Dong Phu, Dong Hung, Truong Giang, Huyen Son, Bao Son and Tam Di among others.
Up to now, the whole district has three staple products (fish, rice, peanuts), one typical product (custard apple), 9 potential products (chicken eggs, longan, apple, watermelon, sweet potato, taro, jicama and pineapple), one product with protected geographical indication (custard apple); 13 products with collective trademarks ( Luc Nam custard apple, Nghia Phuong custard apple, Luc Nam pineapple, Nui Huyen wine, yellow flower tea, Luc Son longan, sweet potato, taro, chestnut, Mai Suu grapefruit, hand-pounded sausage, goat and pigeon).
Based on that potential, the locality has promoted and supported investors to develop OCOP products. Accordingly, the specialized sector has focused on developing OCOP products in 6 groups, prioritizing agricultural, non-agricultural, unique and traditional service products with advantages in raw materials and local culture.
Annually, one to two rounds of evaluation and classification at the district level are organized and products with enough points are selected to participate in the evaluation and classification of OCOP products at the provincial level.
Le Thanh Liem, Head of the district Division of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the promotion of the OCOP Programme has created many high-quality products with brands that are typical of the district, thereby helping improve the quality of people's lives.
After being recognized as OCOP, production and consumption become more and more convenient, including modern sales channels such as supermarket systems, clean food stores or on e-commerce platforms, thereby increasing the revenue and profit of the subject.
