International defense expo in Hanoi showcases world's weaponries

Updated: 18:58, 19/12/2024

Several missiles and launch pads under the Vietnamese People's Army, as well as foreign weaponries, will be introduced at the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024.

Officials at the Ministry of National Defense on Monday participated a rehearsal for the opening of the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024 on Thursday.

Several weaponries of the Vietnamese People's Army are exhibited at the expo. S-125-2TM missiles and their launchers can be seen in the photo.

9K111 Fagot anti-tank missile systems, manufactured by Russia, can launch missiles at 200 meters a second at a range of 2,000 m.

During the firing process, shooters must constantly observe the target and aim accordingly until the missile hits.

The SPYDER mobile air defense system, developed by Israel, uses heat-seeking and guided missiles to destroy targets like unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), helicopters and cruise missiles.

The 3D VRS-MSSS anti-air radar system is produced by Viettel. It is capable of detecting and pinpointing targets' location, height and speed.

An ammunition vehicle with P-28 missiles of the Redut-M system, capable of a firing range at 300 km and a firing speed at 1,400 kph.

The P-28 missile is able to lower its height to avoid the detection of radar and evade enemy response. It is capable of destroying several targets with its 560 kg warhead.

A RV-02 radar system is developed by a Vietnamese military unit. It is capable of tracking even small targets, including UAVs and drones.

The РЕДУТ-М missile system is used to destroy sea vessels and structures on islands and coasts. It has a firing range of 300 km and capable of carrying missiles weighing over 4 tons.

The СПУ-35БЭ launcher weighs around 21 tons and is capable of moving on asphalt road at 50 kph, and 30 kph for non-asphalt road.

A Kh-35UE missile developed by Russian company Rosoboronexport with a firing range of up to 260 km. Its guiding technology ensures accuracy, allowing the missile to be locked-on with targets at a distance of 50 km.

The BM-21 Grad rocket launcher system was designed in the Soviet Union and used in 1963. It is capable of destroying targets over a large area spanning 140 km2.

The S-125-2TM "Pechora-2TM" (C125- 2TM) anti-air missile system can destroy aerial targets in several conditions, and targets on land and water surfaces in certain cases.

The C125-2TM can either engage in combat independently or cooperatively thanks to its compatibility with several radar systems and anti-air information command systems.

The R-17E ballistic missile is one of the most common missiles of the Soviet Union, with 7,000 missiles created. Vietnam is the only Southeast Asian country to possess this missile, with dozens of them being supplied from the Soviet Union in 1981, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

The R-17E has a firing speed at 4,940 kph and a firing range of 300 km. It is often used to attack stationary, unprotected targets.

The Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024 take place from Dec. 19 to 22 at the Gia Lam airport in Hanoi. People can visit the expo for free from 9 a.m. Dec. 21 to 22.
