Vietnamese volleyball star to receive huge salary at new club in Turkey
Vietnam’s number one volleyball player Tran Thi Thanh Thuy has parted ways with Japan’s PFU BlueCats to join Turkish club Kuzeyboru, where she will receive a salary of over $200,000 a season.
At the end of April, Kuzeyboru announced that it had successfully signed Vietnamese volleyball star Thanh Thuy.

Previously, the 26-year-old athlete spent four years in Japan playing for clubs like PFU BlueCats and Denso Airybees. She also played for Bangkok Glass (Thailand) and Attack Line (Chinese Taipei).
Thuy will become the first Vietnamese volleyball player to compete in a European professional league. This is a big step in Thuy's career, not only giving her the chance to improve her level but also her income.
The contract between Thuy and Kuzeyboru will be valid for 10 months. Sources say the Vietnamese outside hitter will receive a salary of no less than $250,000 per season at Kuzeyboru. Previously, she received a salary of $200,000 a season in Japan.
In Turkey, Thuy will be given a luxury apartment and a car provided by Kuzeyboru. However, because Thuy does not have a driver's license, she has asked the club for a bicycle to go to the training ground a few kilometers from her residence.
To ensure Thuy's health and safety in the winter, the club will hire a personal driver for Thuy to take her to the training ground then.
Thuy joining a club in Europe has attracted great attention from domestic and international media. Brazil's volleyball site Elite Do Volei has a lot of praise for the Vietnamese star.
"The 26-year-old, 1.93 m tall athlete has performed outstandingly in her recent season in Japan. Thuy's talent will definitely help Kuzeyboru next season," it wrote.
According to the plan, after finishing her season in Japan, Thuy will return to Vietnam to join the national team and compete in the 2024 Binh Dien Cup, which takes place from May 11 to 19. In August, she will go to Turkey and join Kuzeyboru.
