Bac Giang city prioritizes resources to build national standard schools
BAC GIANG - The Resolution of the 22nd Congress of the Bac Giang City Party Committee, term 2020 - 2025, set a target to build at least 30% of national standard schools at level 2 by 2025. Identifying this as a key task, the City Education Division actively advised local Party committees and authorities to allocate adequate investment resources for schools, helping improve the quality of human resources.

Thanks to the city's investment in building new facilities, teaching and learning equipment, in December 2023, the school was qualified as national standards at level 2.
Teacher Do Quoc Tuan, Principal of the school, said: “In 2022, the school received an investment of more than 55 billion VND (2.3 million USD) from the City People's Committee to completely rebuild the school on an area of 8,900 square meters, including 4 blocks of four-storey buildings, 1 multi-purpose house, playground and practice ground; synchronously invest in smart TV, air conditioners, desks and chairs, magnetic boards, electric fans and classroom decoration to ensure the requirements of a national standard school. The facilities are spacious and modern, helping improve the quality of education. The school ranked 8th out of 17 secondary schools in terms of the number of awards at the city-level excellent student competition and 6th out of 17 secondary schools in the quality of the 10th grade entrance exam in the city".

There are currently 55 schools in the city at preschool, primary and secondary levels. 51 schools have met national standards at level 1, of which 27 schools have met national standards at level 2 with a rate of 49.1%, exceeding 19.1% compared to the target set by the Resolution of the City Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term.
Notably, the city has the first 2 schools in Bac Giang province to achieve level 4 accreditation, including Le Quy Don Secondary School and Tran Nguyen Han Kindergarten.
Do Van Quy, Head of the City Division of Education and Training, said: “To achieve such results, from the beginning of the term, the Division of Education and Training has reviewed the overall status of the facilities of schools. On that basis, it advised the City People's Committee to develop a project to improve the quality of education and training in Bac Giang City for the period 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030. In the period 2021 - 2024, the City allocated large resources to build new facilities, relocate and expand the area of many schools. At the same time, it strengthened to repair and supplement equipment to serve teaching and learning activities."
Specifically, the city spent more than 611 billion VND to build 19 new schools such as: Song Mai Kindergarten, Dinh Tri Kindergarten, Dinh Ke Kindergarten, Dong Son Primary School, Tan My Primary School, Dong Thanh Primary School (facility 1), My Do Secondary School, Tan My Secondary School, Dong Son Secondary School...
At the same time, more than 100 billion VND was allocated to repair and renovate 48 schools and supplement and purchase new equipment for teaching and learning in educational institutions in the area.
At this time, many schools in the city are actively completing criteria to qualify for upgrading and maintaining standards.
Driving on the newly opened Than Khue road, from afar, Song Mai Primary School looks majestic and spacious. The school was qualified as national standard school at level 1 in 2020. The goal is to upgrade to level 2 standards by September 2025.

From January 1, 2025, the city will be expanded in terms of area and population (after merging Yen Dung district), accordingly the public education system and the number of students will increase, Quy said.
The City Division of Education and Training has coordinated with the Division of Education and Training of Yen Dung district to review the current situation and plans in the coming time to update and adjust the city's plan in 2025 which forecasts advantages and difficulties. On that basis, it will build a suitable infrastructure investment roadmap.
In the immediate future, the City Division of Education and Training will advise the City leaders to prioritize resources to eliminate unconsolidated classrooms at 4 schools and add multi-purpose buildings at schools in Yen Dung district while further maintain and improve standards for current schools in Bac Giang City.
