Updated: 10:55, 07/01/2022
Reviving the business sector, boosting exports, and increasing disbursement of public spending are key to achieving the economic growth target of 6-6.5 percent for 2022, the government has said.

At an online government conference with city and provincial administrations from across the country on Jan. 5, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai said it is necessary to take advantage of every opportunity to speed up economic recovery.

He said the government has identified certain tasks for the year: helping businesses recover, giving a push to exports, ensuring funds designated for public spending are actually disbursed, and mobilizing resources to develop infrastructure, especially strategic infrastructure.

It has also prioritized restoring and stabilizing the labor market, creating jobs, and improving incomes and people’s lives, he said.

The country would strive for green growth and rapid development of modern infrastructure, he added.

For the purpose, key infrastructure works for intra- and inter-regional connectivity would be speeded up, including north-south expressways and the Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province, he said. "We will strive to disburse 100 percent of public spending."

GDP growth dropped for the second year in a row to 2.58 percent. But the National Assembly expects growth to rebound in 2022 and has set a target of 6-6.5 percent for the year.
