Key transport projects in Bac Giang: Racing against time to meet deadlines

Updated: 14:26, 28/06/2025

BAC GIANG – With strong determination to ensure progress and complete key infrastructure projects on schedule, hundreds of engineers and workers are accelerating construction across Bac Giang province. Embracing the spirit of "overcoming heat and rain," many construction teams are not only working during the day but also through the night and weekends.

At 9:15 p.m. on June 24, the construction site of the new Xuong Giang Bridge span and approach roads across the Thuong River, part of the Hanoi–Bac Giang Expressway, was still brightly lit with welding sparks and the headlights of concrete trucks pouring abutments and piers.

Construction underway on Xuong Giang Bridge.

On both bridge approaches, workers and machinery including bulldozers and excavators were busy removing surface soil, stabilizing weak ground, and compacting the roadbed.

Given the extreme daytime heat, heavy rain, and challenging conditions of nighttime work at height, contractors have prioritised labour protection and worker safety.

The Xuong Giang Bridge project is managed by the Railway Project Management Board under the Ministry of Construction and is part of a national programme to upgrade and expand several bridges and tunnels along National Highway 1.

Bridge girders are cast on the new connecting road from Provincial Road 292 through the An Ha Industrial Park.

With a total investment of over VND170 billion (6.5 million USD) from the state budget, around 30% of the work has been completed. Construction of the piers and bridge body is currently underway, with a target to open the bridge to technical traffic by December 2025, as planned.

Similarly, on the project to build a road connecting Provincial Road 292 through the An Ha Industrial Park (Lang Giang district) to the Northeast Ring Road (Bac Giang city), over 50 engineers and workers are actively constructing both road sections and an overpass over the canal.

Tasks include roadbed compaction using K95 and K98-grade soil, casting bridge girders, pouring bridge abutments, and installing drainage culverts.

To meet deadlines, the contractor has mobilised both manpower and machinery to work through nights and weekends.

In addition to these two major infrastructure projects, several other key roadworks are also being fast-tracked to meet completion schedules.

The contractor constructs the connecting road from Provincial Road 295 to National Highway 37 (Lang Giang).

Ongoing projects include the extension of Provincial Road 293, from Kham Lang Junction to Quynh Market in Nghia Phuong commune (Luc Nam district); the connecting road from Provincial Road 295 to National Highway 37 (Lang Giang district); Provincial Road 295, from Ben Tuan Bridge to Cao Thuong town, and from Cao Thuong to Bi Noi Bridge (Tan Yen district).

These projects are funded by the state budget with total investments amounting to trillions of VND.

Once completed and operational, these transportation projects will significantly benefit local communities and serve as key drivers for Bac Giang's socio-economic development.
