From Sunday to Tuesday the northern region is set to go through cold nights and mornings, with mountainous areas averaging 13-16 degrees and lowlands 15-18 degrees, with highs up 24-26 degrees.

But the strongest block of cold air so far this year is set to cover the region starting Thursday, bringing averages to below 20 degrees.

U.S. weather forecast website AccuWeather pegs Hanoi’s temperatures at 21-27 degrees from Monday to Wednesday, before dropping to 12-20 degrees in the weekend.

Areas 1,500 meters above sea water such as tourist hotspot Sa Pa will start the week at 13-19 degrees and end at 7-12 degrees.

Four cold waves have been recorded in the north in November, and colder weather is expected in the last two weeks of the year.

The central region will see dry conditions this week with localities from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue experiencing cold nights and mornings.

From Tuesday to Thursday, scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected in the localities from Quang Binh to Binh Thuan.

From Friday to Sunday the arrival of a strong cold front will expand rainy conditions across the central region.

Rains are expected in the southern and central highlands regions starting from Tuesday.

On Saturday and Sunday chilled air is forecast to reach the two regions at night and early morning. The central highlands are expected to be in the range of 26-29 degrees, and the southern region 30-33 degrees.
