Northern Vietnam's temperatures fall to 4 degrees Celsius, lowest this winter
Temperatures in the northern mountains continue to fall on Tuesday due to a cold wave, reaching 4 degrees Celsius in certain areas.
Tuesday's temperatures have been the lowest recorded in Vietnam ever since the winter season of 2024-2025, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The 4-degree temperature was recorded in Lai Chau, while other high-altitude areas like Son La or Lao Cai recorded temperatures at around 6 degrees.
In Hanoi, weather stations in outlying Ba Vi District recorded temperatures at 11 degrees on Tuesday, the lowest recorded since the beginning of winter. Temperatures at dawn and at night were also lower than in previous days, but as the sun rose, temperatures quickly climbed.
A cold wave arrived in northern Vietnam starting Dec. 11 and is weakening, meaning temperatures in the north will gradually rise.
U.S. weather forecast service AccuWeather anticipated Hanoi’s temperatures to be at 21-23 degrees, while nighttime temperatures can be as low as 9 degrees on Thursday. High-altitude locations like Lao Cai’s Sa Pa on Thursday will record temperatures as low as 4-12 degrees.
