Cold front to sweep through northern Vietnam
A cold air mass is moving towards northern Vietnam, expected to bring temperatures down to 16 degrees Celsius in Hanoi, with heavy rainfall in the central region and strong winds along coastal areas.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a moderate cold air mass is approaching the northern region and will reach the northeast by early Tuesday, gradually spreading across the region, causing a temperature drop of 3-7 degrees Celsius compared to Monday.

The American weather service AccuWeather forecasts that Hanoi will experience temperatures ranging from 21-29 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, dropping to 18-28 degrees the following day, and down to 16 degrees at night by Thursday, before a gradual warm-up.
Higher altitude locations, such as Sa Pa, which sits over 1,500 meters above sea level, will see temperatures as low as 12-17 degrees.
The cold air will affect both the northern and central regions starting Wednesday. In Thanh Hoa Province, temperatures are expected to dip to 19-22 degrees, with mountainous areas seeing even cooler conditions at 17-19 degrees.
This cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to the central region on Wednesday and Thursday.
Starting Tuesday afternoon, winds in the Gulf of Tonkin will intensify to speeds of 39-49 kph, with sea waves rising to 1.5-2.5 meters high.
The northern region has already experienced heavy rainfall over the past two days, due to a wind convergence zone at altitudes of 1,500-5,000 meters.
Rainfall from 7 p.m. on Saturday to 2 p.m. on Sunday exceeded 100 mm in several areas, with Bac Quang District in Ha Giang Province recording nearly 380 mm, which has led to serious landslides that buried houses and vehicles, leaving at least one person dead.
The northern region and Thanh Hoa will continue to be affected by this wind convergence on Monday, with rainfall ranging from 30-90 mm, and up to 180 mm in some locations.
