Son Dong diversifies ways to bring OCOP products to market
BAC GIANG - Many entities with rated products under One Commune One Product programme (OCOP) in Son Dong district (Bac Giang province) continue to improve packaging, production lines, enhance product quality, expand sales "channels", especially exploiting digital platforms to bring products to market.
Improve packaging, create highlights
Since 2013, Nong Van Binh's family in Chao village, An Lap commune has launched a rice noodle production facility.

The advantage of noodles made from Bao Thai rice grown in the highlands is that the noodles are chewy, rich in flavor, and much more delicious than products made from other types of rice. Last November, his noodles were certified as 3-star OCOP product.
He shared that before developing the OCOP product, his family used to make 500 kg of rice, equivalent to 400 kg of noodles, every day. The products were sold as soon as they were made. After being certified as OCOP, the information spread widely so many customers from far away provinces contacted him to place orders.
Therefore, the family renovated the drying yard, expanded the production area and used a noodle making machine with a capacity of 100 kg of rice per hour to meet customer demand.
Regarding packaging, he improved the appearance of both nylon and printed paper, clearly stating the origin and QR code so that customers can easily look up product information.
By developing a stable source of raw materials and paying due attention to improving quality and design, Thanh Luan bamboo shoots of Tay Yen Tu Purple Morinda officinalis Cooperative in Thanh Luan commune have recently been rated 3 stars by the OCOP Evaluation Council of the district.
Although initial success has been achieved, the Cooperative continues to innovate products toward professionalization so as to meet the needs of market expansion and gradually achieve export goals.
Currently, the Cooperative starts to change its logo, improve packaging, labels, and product packaging in a modern, professional direction. Vacuum-packed products help preserve products for a long time and facilitate transportation.

The Cooperative has invested more to make paper boxes to pack products, making it easier for customers to buy as gifts.
Since the beginning of the year, the OCOP Product Evaluation Council of Son Dong district has rated 6 products as 3 star standard, completing the set plan, bringing the total number of 3-star products in the district to 20.
Many products with a name and position in the market are protected by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam such as Son Dong forest honey, Nhu Bao leaf yeast wine, Tay Yen Tu leaf yeast wine and Son Dong green ironwood mushroom among others.
The owners of the above products pay due attention to hiring consulting units to design packaging, flyers, billboards... with attractive forms and content, highlighting the meaning, value, uses as well as instructions on how to use, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the products in the market.
Digital marketing
Son Dong district has recently focused on directing and implementing many activities to support people in developing OCOP products, especially communes in the new rural area plan.
With certified products, the district continues to advise and guide new entities to improve production processes and create sustainable sources of raw materials. At the same time, it focuses on bringing products to the market through many sales "channels", especially on digital platforms.

In fact, there are some local cooperatives have effectively promoted the sale and introduction of products on digital platforms. Typically, Hoang Van Thien, Director of Thien Loi Agricultural Cooperative has two products rated 3 star.
He shared that “I regularly post images and videos online about the process of preparing ingredients and processing products to promote and attract customers. On average, each live video broadcast has 150-500 viewers, many of whom then place to order products”.
According to Le Duc Thang, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, after many re-evaluations, the district has no products that have lost stars or been downgraded. The locality is striving to have at least 5 products recognized as 3-star OCOP or higher by 2025; develop 30-35 new products, including 5 products achieving 4-star provincial level during 2025 - 2030.
The district will continue to guide and support entities to standardize production processes and provide full information on packaging, invite online sales experts to help promote products at livestream sessions, participate in fairs and exhibitions in and outside the province.
Besides, local authority assists cooperatives and production facilities to both invest in perfecting traditional products and researching and producing new products to meet market demand.
