Viet Yen a key industrial region, modern and civilized urban area
BAC GIANG - From an agricultural district, Viet Yen has transformed into a key industrial region, achieving the township status two years ahead of schedule. With strong potential, it is making efforts to meet the criteria to become a provincial city in the near future.
Reflecting on the development process from a purely agricultural district to a key industrial region, a significant milestone occurred in 2003 when construction on the Dinh Tram Industrial Park - the first of its kind in the province was kicked off.

From that initial industrial park, Viet Yen now has four industrial parks: Quang Chau, Dinh Tram, Van Trung, and Viet Han (Vietnam-Korea), hosting hundreds of domestic and foreign businesses.
In 2023, the production value of Viet Yen increased by 19.94%, taking the lead among the province’s 10 districts, town, and city, and accounting for over 68% of the province’s total, with industry alone making up over 78%.

The township’s average growth rate from 2020 to 2023 reached 25.56%, exceeding the set targets. Its budget revenue for 2023 hit over 3.4 trillion VND (134.87 million), making up 20% of the provincial budget.
With its industrial development potential, Viet Yen stayed united and determined to achieve the township status. Meeting the expectations of local people, on December 13, 2023, Viet Yen was officially recognized as a township, two years ahead of the provincial and district goals.
This marked an important milestone not only for the Party Organisation, administration, and people of Viet Yen but also represented a new development phase for Bac Giang province.
Since February 1, 2024, Viet Yen has been systematically operating the model of urban government, with a shift in mindset and actions among officials, Party members, and residents, focusing on serving the people and businesses while building a friendly government.
Viet Yen has consistently led in administrative reform, maintaining a top position in the District and Department Competitiveness Index (DDCI) for several years.

Viet Yen is also the homeland of traditional folk songs like Quan Ho (love duet) and Ca Tru (ceremonial singing), recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritages.
In its development process, Viet Yen has harnessed its traditions of dynamism and creativity, effectively mobilizing and utilizing investment resources for socio-economic growth, while promoting industrial, urban, and service development; taking industrial growth as a driving force for urban and service development and supporting agricultural expansion.
