Vietnam's Huynh Ha Huu Hieu secured a gold medal in the women’s 45kg category at the World Muay Thai Championships in Greece by defeating Russian boxer Sofia Istratova after three intense rounds on Sunday.

Hieu, clad in blue armor, expertly controlled the tempo of the match. Utilizing a combination of leg attacks, high kicks to the face, and effective elbow strikes, she dominated the bout. The judges awarded her a 10-9 win in each round.

When the match concluded, the 24-year-old fighter raised her hands in triumph, smiling as she celebrated her third world Muay Thai gold medal.

Born in Khanh Hoa Province in central Vietnam, Hieu moved to Ho Chi Minh City at the age of 13 to pursue a career in martial arts. Despite her small stature, she quickly became a dominant figure in her weight class domestically.

On the international stage, Hieu has an impressive track record, having won the world youth championship twice in 2013 and 2016, and the world championship three times. She also boasts one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal from the SEA Games.

Although primarily a Muay Thai fighter, Hieu possesses exceptional boxing skills. Experts praise her ability to read her opponents, along with her remarkable tolerance and timing, making her a formidable competitor.
