“Two safety” in businesses

BAC GIANG - "It is safe to produce, production must be safe" is the motto that all units and enterprises target in production and business so as to create scientific working habits, help workers ensure health and improve labor productivity.

At Bac Giang LGG Garment Corporation Joint Stock Company (Lang Giang), every Wednesday is chosen as "Safety Day at LGG". On this day, inspection teams of the company's Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Council inspect and evaluate OSH work in all departments and factories.

Workers at Cutting Division of Bac Giang LGG Garment Corporation Joint Stock Company seriously use iron gloves when operating the machine.

Based on the proposed criteria, points will be scored, serving as a basis for rewards and punishment in implementing regulations. Workshops that strictly comply with the rule and report no accidents or labor incidents will receive monthly bonuses and the longer they maintain safety, the greater the bonus is.

This year's OSH Action Month (May) is launched with the theme: "Strengthening OSH assurance in the workplace and in the supply chain". The Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will proactively coordinate with trade unions, local party committees and authorities to actively participate, organize inspections, and request employers to improve the working conditions, sufficiently provide protective equipment for workers; focus on OSH training so as to build a safe working environment for workers to develop their abilities and compete for good and creative labor.

General Director of the Company Luu Tien Chung said: "In addition to ensuring jobs and income for about 7,000 workers, the leader board always gives top priority to improve the working conditions for employees. Only when the production environment is safe and the labor regime is appropriate, employees can quickly regenerate labor to make good products. Therefore, the company annually spends more than 1 billion VND to install new and replace high-capacity vacuum cleaners and filters to clean and minimize fabric dust in the air as well as install anti-heat ceilings, cooling system and ventilation fans in factories."

It helped significantly improve the working space at the company, especially in the sewing lines with heat and dust much reduced.

To update knowledge and skills on labor safety for workers, once a year, the business coordinates with the police force to organize training and drills on OSH together with fire and explosion prevention and control.

Meanwhile, company carries out working environment monitoring and conducts periodic health checks for employees. Such effort helps the company prevent serious occupational accidents since its establishment.

In 2023, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) provided OSH training for more than 111,000 employers and OSH officials and employees at 381 enterprises and cooperatives.

Every year, Bac Giang LGG Garment Corporation Joint Stock Company organizes OSH training; fire fighting and explosion prevention so as to ensure safe production.

At the same time, 656 enterprises organized safety training for their employees according to regulations. Factories and enterprises in the province spent nearly 14 billion VND to equip protective equipment, invested in upgrading technology lines, and improve the working environment...

Acknowledging the importance of OSH, many businesses have paid attention to improving working conditions, reminding employees to raise awareness and strictly comply with production processes.
