Bac Giang attracts 2.7 billion USD from RoK investors
BAC GIANG - The northern province of Bac Giang has to date attracted 365 projects from the Republic of Korea (RoK) with a total registered capital of nearly 2.7 billion USD.
To strengthen local-level cooperation, Bac Giang province has paid attention to implementing the Cooperation Agreement with RoK’s South Chungcheong Province (RoK) while Bac Giang City continues to implement the Cooperation Agreement with RoK’s Seo district of Daejeon City.

The districts, township and city in Bac Giang orient to cooperate with RoK’s district-level localities with similarities and mutual strengths.
Director of the department Ngo Bien Cuong said the province will expand and enhance friendship and cooperation with Korean partners in various spheres in the time ahead, from industry to trade and services.
In the industrial sector, Bac Giang prioritizes to attract industrial projects producing key products to participate effectively and competitively in the global value chain from Korean investors such as projects to manufacture electrical and electronic components and equipment, mechanical manufacturing machinery, equipment and metal processing, focusing on mold manufacturing industries for the electrical, electronics and automobile industries among others.
In the field of trade and services, Bac Giang province wants to appeal RoK investors to develop service industries with high added value such as finance, banking, insurance, postal and telecommunications, logistics services, medical examination and treatment... in Bac Giang City.
In addition, Bac Giang aims to attract and encourage Korean partners to invest in developing preservation industry, deep processing, fine processing, high-tech processing...
According to the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, the RoK now ranks first in the number of projects and third, after China and Samoa among the 30 countries and territories investing in the locality, in terms of capital.
Trade between Bac Giang and the RoK reached 16.3 billion USD last year, and some 5.99 billion USD in the first five months of this year. The Northeast Asian nation is Bac Giang’s second biggest importer, after China.
Over the past time, programmes, projects and aid packages launched by the RoK’s non-governmental organisations and businesses have benefited children, the elderly and those in difficult circumstances in the province.
In particular, Samsung Company and KFHI organization sponsored to build toilets at schools (about 250,000 USD); build "Samsung School of Hope" (total aid value of 850,000 USD).
Besides, DIVA organization supported to construct houses for the poor in Yen The district (supported amount of 300,000 USD). The Korean Embassy assigns volunteers to teach Korean at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted...
