Bac Giang ensures safety for workers’ boarding house
Recently, the high rise hostels have mushroomed at Gia village, Noi Hoang commune (Yen Dung district). Many local households now rely on leasing the boarding house as the main income.

Head of the village Duong Van Tu said: “There are 98 hostels in the village with about 1,500 rooms to serve about 2,700 workers. The local population is over 800 people. Thus, the disease prevention and control is the first priority task”.
Yen Dung district has 466 hostels with 6,187 rooms, mostly in the communes of Noi Hoang, Tien Phong and Yen Lu. Basically, they are qualified with standard of area, wall structure, roof, floor, power system, sanitation area, water supply, waste collection among others.
So far, the district authorities have cooperated with the communal People’s Committee and businesses to arrange several concentrated boarding houses as the requirement from the companies, including 100 workers of S- Connect BG Vina Company Limited in Noi Hoang commune, 24 workers of Dea Gwang Vina Co.,Ltd in Tien Phong commune, 8 workers of Van Xuan Steel Co.,Ltd...
Viet Yen district has strictly collaborated with high responsibility to keep safe worker hostels. Nguyen Thi Giang, owner of the hostel in Quang Bieu village, Quang Chau commune shared her family has more than 40 rooms for lease. Thanks to the introduction from the district and commune, Luxshare – ICT Co.,Ltd in Van Trung industrial park inked renting contract and took 80 workers to stay here.
Before picking up the workers, her family disinfected the whole area and inspected all rooms. The enterprises and hostel owner supported all necessities and food for the workers, so they stay here comfortably.
According to Viet Yen district Economic and Infrastructure Division (Division), the district People’s Committee issued regulation on implementing Covid-19 preventive measures and reviewed “safe hostel”, apartments in Quang Chau, Van Trung, Tang Tien communes and Nenh town.
The district also directed to establish safe hostel business group in the villages and residential areas to ease the firms in contacting to rent room for workers.
Now, 3,580 households rely on hostel renting business with more than 58,000 rooms in the province. After reviewing and supplying information, several firms signed contracts to rent 1,567 rooms for 3,134 workers to stay.
However, though the local authorities have actively connected and introduced, some businesses still failed to have active arrangement so that few workers reside at the safe boarding house.
To solve the issue, Vice Head of the Division Ngo Van Trinh said the district will further cooperate with the provincial Industrial Park Management Board to introduce the hostels to the enterprises on demand. To raise the responsibility, the companies with dealt contract with hostel owner must follow the commitment and agreement to take their workers to stay.
At the same time, the boarding facilities must ensure conditions to serve their living and accommodation demand. The arrangement should be suitably to the travel procedure, management and active response to any circumstance.
