Apart from sports such as Athletics, Wushu... which Bac Giang sports delegation has maintained their prestigious medals at national championships, SEA Games, and Asian Games, recently, some sports that were previously Bac Giang's strength have tended to stagnate in the race for medals at major tournaments.

The province won few medals at the National Sports Festival; national, Southeast Asian, continental championships in badminton, chess, wrestling and sepak takraw among others.

On the other hand, many new sports are now included in the national and international tournament system. Therefore, it is necessary for Bac Giang province to establish and develop new sports.

During 2022-2024 period, the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center established 8 new sports including: Chinese Chess, Jujitsu, weightlifting, rod pushing, tug of war, kickboxing, Go (board game) and roller skating.

The athletes of these sports are mostly selected from amateur tournaments, clubs and discovered during competitions and training.

Up to now, Bac Giang province has a total of 19 subjects trained in the national and international tournament system.

In fact, before establishment, Bac Giang athletes participated in some sports tournaments and won many Gold Medals in national and international events, such as: Chinese Chess, Jujitsu, and Rod Pushing.
