Vietnamese players win mixed doubles title at Li-Ning Vietnam International Series 2024

BAC GIANG - The final matches of the Li-Ning Vietnam International Series 2024 took place on the afternoon of November 17 at the Bac Giang provincial Gymnasium. 

Countries with athletes competing in the finals include Taiwan (China) competing in 3 events; Vietnam and South Korea competing in 2 events; Indonesia and the Philippines competing in one event.

Tran Dinh Manh and Pham Thi Khanh in the mixed doubles final.

In both competitions (mixed doubles and men's doubles), Vietnamese athletes met Taiwanese athletes (China). Specifically, in the mixed doubles event, duo Tran Dinh Manh - Pham Thi Khanh met duo Bo Yuan Chen - Liang Ching Sun while duo Tran Dinh Manh - Nguyen Dinh Hoang met top seeded pair Zhi Wei He - Huang Jui Hsua in men’s doubles.

The women's singles event was contested by Korean twin sisters Kim Min Sun and Kim Min Ji. The men's singles event was the competition between Taiwanese (Chinese) Wang Yu-Kai and Korean athlete Kim Byung Jae.

The audience cheers for the athletes.

The women's doubles saw the competition between Isyana Syahira Meida - Rinjani Kwinara Nastine (Indonesia) and Airah Mae Nicole Albo - Eleanor Christine Inlayo (Philippines).

The Vietnamese pair Tran Dinh Manh and Pham Thi Khanh delivered an excellent performance, winning two straight sets with the scores of 21-19 and 21-13 and claimed the mixed doubles championship.

Representatives of the Organizing Committee award the First Prize to the mixed doubles Tran Dinh Manh - Pham Thi Khanh (podium number 1).

In the women's singles, Kim Min Ji won the championship against her younger sister Kim Min Sun with a score of 2-1. Meanwhile, Kim Byung Jae defeated Wang Yu-Kai 2-1 in the men's singles.

Two Indonesian players crowned the women's doubles championship after defeating the Philippine pair with a score of 2-0.

In the men’s doubles event, Vietnam's third-seeded duo, Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh, secured the runner-up position. Despite their valiant efforts, they narrowly lost to the top-seeded pair, Zhi Wei He and Huang Jui Hsuan also from Chinese Taipei, with the scores of 20-22 and 19-21.

The Li-Ning Vietnam International Series 2024 took place from November 12 to 17 at the Bac Giang Provincial Gymnasium. The tournament brought together 197 athletes, including 73 female athletes and 124 male athletes from 15 countries and territories. The athletes played nearly 100 matches in 5 categories of men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.

At the end, the Organizing Committee awarded 5 sets of prizes in each category. The Vietnamese Badminton Team won a total of 4 prize, including the first prize in the mixed doubles, the second prize in the men's doubles and 2 third prizes in women's singles (athlete Vu Thi Trang) and mixed doubles (Pham Van Truong - Bui Bich Phuong).
