Pham Tien San nominated as best male elite athlete
BAC GIANG - VnExpress Runners of the Year 2024 Awards has announced the nominations for the "Elite Runner of the Year" category for outstanding professional male athletes. Bac Giang athlete Pham Tien San is one of the 6 faces nominated for this title.
Originally a middle-distance runner, Tien San switched to biathlon in 2017. This decision brought him two SEA Games Gold Medals. However, with his love for long-distance running, the athlete from Bac Giang still takes the opportunity to participate in marathons.

At the end of September, Tien San had the opportunity to participate in the Berlin Marathon - one of the six major marathons in 2024. After two months of hard training, the runner born in 1991 achieved a time of 2 hours 22 minutes 46 seconds and became the first Vietnamese person to enter the top 100 of a major tournament.
This result also helped him become the third best marathon runner in Vietnam's history, only after Hoang Nguyen Thanh and Nguyen Chi Dong.
Continuing that success, at the end of October, Tien San returned and successfully defended his championship title in the 42km distance at Longbien Marathon. His time of 2 hours 36 minutes 59 seconds also helped him break the record of the tournament.
Along with Pham Tien San, 5 other male athletes were also nominated for the best professional male athlete including: Hoang Nguyen Thanh, Do Quoc Luat, Nguyen Van Lai, Trinh Quoc Luong and Hua Thuan Long.
