Nguyen Thi Oanh and Pham Tien San win 21 km distance

BAC GIANG - On the morning of October 13, the Organizing Committee of the 41st Bac Giang Newspaper Half Marathon 2024 “Converging in the Sacred Land awarded prizes for the half marathon event at February 3 Square in Bac Giang City (Bac Giang province). 

After nearly 3 hours of competition, more than 1,400 athletes participating in the half marathon event at the race completed their journey to conquer the roads.

Trinh Van Anh, Editor-in-Chief of Bac Giang Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee, awards prizes to female athletes winning high results in the 5km race.

The highlight of the half marathon was the competition in the 10km and 21km distances, which attracted many athletes and teams from provinces and cities across the country as well as outstanding faces in long-distance races in Vietnam, typically Nguyen Thi Oanh and Pham Tien San.

The athletes started at 4:30 am on October 13 for the 21 km race, 5am for the 10 km race and 5:30am for the 5 km race.

Than Trung Kien, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, awards prizes to male athletes winning high results in the 5 km distance.

In the 21 km race, athletes Nguyen Thi Oanh and Pham Tien San had no opponents. Just a few minutes after starting, the two SEA Games 32 champions accelerated and created a big gap with the remaining athletes in the same distance.

As a result, Tien San won the men's championship with a time of 1 hour 9 minutes 46 seconds while Nguyen Thi Oanh won the women's championship with a time of 1 hour 17 minutes 27 seconds.

Chu Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Bac Giang Newspaper, awards prizes to outstanding male athletes in the 21 km distance.

In the 10km distance, athletes Trinh Quoc Luong, Le Van Thao, Nguyen Viet Ai, Dinh Viet Tiep, Do Thi Huong, Le Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Thanh... were the runners who continuously led throughout the race.

The first runner to reach the finish line in the men's category was athlete Trinh Quoc Luong with a time of 34 minutes and 27 seconds and in the women's category was athlete Le Thi Lan with a time of 43 minutes and 24 seconds.

Tran Van Duc, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Bac Giang Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, awards prizes to outstanding female athletes in the 21 km race.

The 5 km distance (men's and women's) was an event attracting many amateur runners to show their love for sports, improve health and strongly support the sports movement of the province, especially with many young athletes such as: Nguyen Minh Triet (born 2019) in Tay Mo, Nam Tu Liem (Hanoi); Trinh Nhat Ha An (born 2019) in Dang Xa, Gia Lam (Hanoi)...

In the women's 5 km distance, the first runner to finish was athlete Nguyen Thi Nguyet with a time of 19 minutes and 5 seconds; second runner was athlete Trinh Yen Linh with a time of 20 minutes and 15 seconds; followed by athlete Le Thuy Linh with a time of 20 minutes and 37 seconds.

Dao Thi Huong, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, awards prizes to outstanding male athletes in the 10 km race.

The first male athlete to finish this distance was Giap Huy Hoang with a time of 16 minutes and 44 seconds; followed by Vu Minh Thang with a time of 17 minutes and 18 seconds and Nguyen Van Bao with a time of 17 minutes and 44 seconds.

Finishing all events, the Organizing Committee awarded 3 sets of prizes in 3 distances, each set of prizes included 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize and gifts from sponsors. To encourage the athletes, the Organizing Committee also awarded cash reward of 500,000 VND to each athlete finishing 4th to 10th in all 3 distances.

100% of the athletes who completed the race were given finishing shirts by the sponsor Venicii Vietnam Joint Stock Company. In addition, the athletes were also given a commemorative medal by the Organizing Committee.
