With approval by the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, the 41st Bac Giang Newspaper Half Marathon 2024 themed “Converging in the Sacred Land” will take place on 12 and 13 October aiming to become a prestigious sport tournament of high professionalism.

The tournament is hosted by Bac Giang News Paper in collaboration with the provincial Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Education and Training, Health, Youth Union, Public Security Department and the people’s committee of Bac Giang city.

Apart from collective running events, the tournament will be organized as a half marathon with the distances of 5km, 10km and 21km for athletes from nationwide excluding the running races for athletes in the province as previous years.

The Organizing Board has opened BIB for athletes to register to attend the half marathon event on the e-platforms (with full name of the athletes, running numbers and race distances) since 8 August 2024 at reasonable fees.

Particularly, the lowest rate is 199,000 VND (7.9 USD) and the highest is 449,000 VND (18 USD) for each BIB while athletes registering in groups will be given discount. Especially, athletes competing at half marathon event will be provided chip to follow up their achievements.

According to the Organizing Board, this year tournament attracts the largest number of participants ever (with nearly 3,000 athletes).

Particularly, 1,320 athletes (24 teams) will participate in the collective running who are students of secondary and high school student in Bac Giang city and 1,452 half marathon runners come from many provinces and cities nationwide competing at 5km, 10km and 21km distances for both men and women while the previous tournaments were limited in the province.

In order to mark a professional tournament, improve competition quality and promote image of the locality, the Organizing Board designed special shirts for the athletes participating in different distances and collective running and delegates at the event.

The 41st Bac Giang Newspaper Half Marathon 2024 themed “Converging in the Sacred Land” will be kicked off at 16.00 on October 12 at 3/2 square, Bac Giang city.

After the opening ceremony, the athletes will compete at the collective running event (53 participants for each block). The half marathon events at 5km, 10km and 21km distances for men and women will take place on the early morning of October 13.

In order to promote the images of Bac Giang province and Bac Giang city, the race tracks will run across beautiful roads and architectural buildings, particularly the special national relic site of Xuong Giang Victory in Xuong Giang ward, Hung Vuong road, walking street, Hoang Hoa Tham park, Dai Hoang Son palace, ben tower, Bac Giang station, My Do bridge, Coop Mart and Vincom Plaza.

This year tournament becomes more attractive with presence of the professional runners from nationwide, especially the 2 top Vietnamese athletes Nguyen Thi Oanh (born in 1995 in My Ha commune, Lang Giang district) and Pham Tien San (born in 1991 in Ngoc Thien commune, Tan Yen district). The talents of these 2 athletes were unearthed at previous Bac Giang Newspaper running races when they were students.

“Following the mass media, I know this year tournament boasts many new features at a large scale with higher professionalism. Although I will attend many domestic and international running races in October with intense training and competition schedules, I arranged time to join this tournament with a hope to widespread the running movement, especially to the youth in my Bac Giang homeland”, Pham Tien San said when attending the 41st Bac Giang Newspaper Half Marathon 2024.
