Bac Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital deploys IVF technique
The patient is N.H.H (31 years old) from Huyen Son commune (Luc Nam district) with a history of fallopian tube blockage after giving birth to her first child 2 years ago. After screening, doctors held that she would get pregnant only when the IVF technique is applied.

At the National Center for Reproductive Support, Doctor Nguyen Viet Quang, Director of the National Center for Reproductive Support, along with doctors and medical staff of the hospital used specialized equipment to collect mature eggs from H’s ovary and transfer them to a laboratory for in vitro fertilization. Then the fertilized egg was transferred to the mother's uterus to develop into a fetus.
Specialist II Dao Xuan Hien, deputy head of the Department of Reproductive Support under the Bac Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, said that this is a progress that affirms the efforts and determination of the Bac Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in particular and Bac Giang’s health sector in general in the treatment of infertility.
In Bac Giang, there are about 9,000 couples experiencing infertility. The implementation of IVF technique at the provincial level is a great step forward in the field of reproductive support. Patients now can access high technology without having to go to higher-level hospitals, reducing costs. Currently, the Bac Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has received applications for IVF from 20 couples.
