Bac Giang team wins 10 medals, ranks 9th at 2024 National Youth Chess Championships

BAC GIANG - The Vietnam Chess Federation on June 3 coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the closing ceremony of 2024 National Youth Chess Championship at the Bac Giang Provincial Gymnasium (Bac Giang city). 

This year tourney took place from May 24 to June 3 with the participation of nearly 1,300 athletes from 53 units in provinces, cities, sectors and chess clubs nationwide.

Leader of the Bac Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awards prizes to athletes winning high achievements in U7 women’s team traditional chess event.

After nearly 2 weeks, the event brought intense and fierce competition. With a uniform force and stable performance in all events, the Hanoi Youth Chess Team won first overall ranking with 58 Gold Medals, 47 Silver Medals and 56 Bronze Medals in different contents of standard chess, traditional chess, rapid chess and blitz chess. It was followd by Ho Chi Minh City team then Da Nang, Can Tho and Ninh Binh.

88 athletes of Bac Giang delegation participated in the tournament and won 10 medals (including 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals). The achievement helped the team rank 9 out of 53 delegations.

The 4 gold medals went to Luong Hoang Tu Linh in U20 women's individual standard chess; Nguyen Khanh An and Pham Thi Ngoc Diem in U6 and U10 women’s individual traditional chess; Duong Ngoc Mai - Pham Thi Ngoc Diem in U10 women's traditional chess team event.
