Bac Giang to operate Bai Oi Industrial Cluster soon
BAC GIANG - Bai Oi craft village in Dinh Tri commune, Bac Giang city (Bac Giang province) is famous for its carpentry, which helps many households get rich. However, the production and business activities here are causing consequences that need to be resolved.
According to the leaders of Dinh Tri commune, 150 households in the craft village are now engaged in the carpentry, of which Bai Oi Carpentry Cooperative has 54 members with total revenue reaching hundreds of billions of VND each year.

However, the wood processing factories and businesses located in residential areas cause dust, noise, wastewater and environmental pollution, affecting the lives of people in the neighboring areas.
To overcome this situation, Bai Oi Industrial Cluster was established on an area of 12 hectares in Bai Oi village to form a concentrated area for wooden furniture production.
The industrial cluster attracts various fields of wood processing, fine art wood, mechanical engineering, electronic components and supporting industries. Bac Giang City People's Committee is the investor of the industrial cluster.
Luong Tien Thanh, Director of Bai Oi Carpentry Cooperative said although the technical infrastructure of this industrial cluster was completed in June 2019, it has not been put into effective use.
According to the new planning adjustment in November 2023, the industrial cluster narrowed its business lines, only allowing it to be used for the purpose of displaying, processing forest products and wooden furniture.
For many years, this area has remained empty while the demand for moving wood processing factories out of residential areas is very high.
Many opinions proposed that there should be solutions to put Bai Oi Industrial Cluster into operation soon, exploit and use land and infrastructure effectively. Bac Giang City leaders were recommended to establish a working group to monitor progress and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of attracting investment to this industrial cluster.
Attracting wood manufacturing factories to industrial cluster and moving them out of densely populated areas will help improve air quality, reduce noise and the risk of water pollution.
Industrial cluster is a place for professional production, helping members of wood processing cooperatives, households and businesses have the motivation to expand their scale and increase revenue.
To attract projects, it is necessary to create a favorable environment for production facilities to apply new technology and increase competitiveness in the market; research and consider tax exemptions and reductions and support initial preferential loans for production facilities when they first move into industrial cluster to build factories.
Also, it is important to improve technical infrastructure and services, ensure that the industrial cluster has a wastewater treatment system and solid waste collection that meets standards; build convenient traffic routes to connect the industrial cluster with surrounding areas.
Such efforts will contribute to effectively exploiting the invested industrial cluster, preventing resource waste.
