Deputy PM urges completion of overall strategy for effective pandemic response in the new situation

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, chaired a working session on October 25 with ministries and branches on the draft of the overall strategy to effectively respond to the Covid-19 pandemic in the new situation.

According to a report by the Ministry of Health (MoH), the solutions outlined the overall strategy focus on four major goals, including reducing the rate of people infected with Covid-19, increasing the rate of vaccine coverage, reducing mortality, and ensuring the recovery of socio-economic development in association with the epidemic control.

It is said that the strategy must highlight the priority on protecting people’s health; safely adapting, flexibly and effectively controlling the Covid-19 epidemic to facilitate the restoration of production and business as well as socio-economic development, and gradually returning the people's daily life to the new normal.

In particular, epidemic prevention and control must be placed under the comprehensive leadership of the Party and State, unification at central level and flexibility at local level, and the whole political system must join hands to control the pandemic.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam asked the MoH to urgently absorb the opinions of ministries, branches and localities, in order to complete the draft of the overall strategy so that the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control can submit it to the Government to synchronise it with the socio-economic recovery and development programme.

On October 25, the MoH issued an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and cities on strengthening the supervision and effective control of the Covid-19 epidemic during the implementation of the Government’s Resolution No.128.
