Updated: 08:34, 04/05/2024

BAC GIANG- The northern province of Bac Giang is home to numerous ranked historical and cultural relics, which are potential for tourism development. However, it is essential to invest in building signature items and products to “awaken” the relics for tourism development.

There are 755 ranked relics and beautiful landscapes in the entire province including 5 special national relic sites, 96 national relics and other provincial relics.

The Buddhism woodblocks are preserved at Vinh Nghiem pagoda in Yen Dung district.

Of which, many national and special national relic sites have been recognized as tourist attractions such as Vinh Nghiem pagoda (Yen Dung district), Xuong Giang victory relic site (Bac Giang city) Bo Da pagoda (Viet Yen township), Hoang Hoa Tham historical relic site (Yen The district) and Tien Luc relic cluster (Lang Giang district).

According to Resolution No 112-NQ/TU dated 15 June 2021 of the provincial Party Committee’s Executive Committee on tourism development in the 2021-2025 period, with a vision to 2030, cultural and spiritual tourism is defined one of the four major tourism products of the province.

In implementation of the Resolution, many projects have been repaired and improved to attract visitors. Particularly, the special national relic site of Vinh Nghiem pagoda is a highlight on the route to western side of Yen Tu mountain.

With its special and unique artistic architectural values in line with the Buddhism woodblocks recognized by UNESCO as the world documentary heritage in the Asia –Pacific region, this relic site welcomes hundred thousands of visitors each year including several international delegations.

Similarly, the special national relic sites of Xuong Giang Victory, Bo Da pagoda and Yen The Uprising lure a large number of tourists especially at the beginning of Lunar New Year.

So far, some travel agencies have surveyed to build the tour Vinh Nghiem - Tay Yen Tu - Xuong Giang- Bo Da to attract visitors. Many tourism destinations and relic sites not only meet the visitors’ demand for worshipping and sightseeing but they also contribute to educating young generations about historical tradition and national pride.

Visitors flock to Xuong Giang temple in Bac Giang city.

The province received over 2 million arrivals in 2023, an increase of 51 percent against 2022, including more than 16,000 foreign visitors. The total revenue from tourism activities reached 1.450 trillion (57 million USD), up 123 percent. Bac Giang will strive to welcome 3 million arrivals and gain 2,500 billion VND (98 million USD) from tourism in 2024.

According to Do Tuan Khoa, Vice Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department will collaborate with related localities and agencies to effectively implement the resolutions, plans and schemes of the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee on tourism development with a focus on building typical and attractive tourism products to increase revenues from this industry.
