Updated: 17:17, 17/05/2024

BAC GIANG - Currently, some lychee areas in Tan Yen district (Bac Giang province) are ripen earlier than expected and ready for harvest. Many visitors and traders have flocked to lychee gardens to experience the fruit ripening season and place order.

At the center of Phuc Hoa commune, traders started opening weighing points in May 15 to purchase the local special fruits to export or sale at domestic markets.

Family of Nguyen Thi Linh in Tan Lap village, Tan Trung commune harvests early ripening lychees.

Trader Trinh Xuan Hung in Luc Ngan district said that on average he buys about 10 tonnes of lychee from local growers every day. The lychees are processed on the spot with most of stems and leaves cut, soaked in ice water, packed in foam boxes then loaded into containers for export to China.

Many gardeners in the district also began to welcome customers to visit and buy early ripening lychees. The local farmers are excited for a smooth lychee crop with favorable prices and consumption. The households mobilize human resources to focus on harvesting fruits to supply traders.

Lychees are sold at a purchasing point in Phuc Hoa commune.

This year, Tan Yen district has more than 1,300 hectares of lychee, over 700 hectares of which are in Phuc Hoa commune. The district expects to harvest about 10,000 tonnes of lychees.

To be proactive in consumption and accompany farmers, the district plans to organize a conference to connect and promote early ripening lychee consumption on May 23 in Phuc Hoa commune.
