Mid-autumn festival creates cheerful atmosphere in Hanoi’s Old Quarter

The annual Mid-autumn Festival kicked off in front of Dong Xuan Market on the evening of September 14, as the first event of various activities to celebrate the occasion in Hanoi’s Old Quarter.

Visitors at the opening ceremony were entertained with a lion dance, children’s arts performances, and folk games.

The Hoan Kiem district People’s Committee presented 18 bicycles for poor children and scholarships for students with outstanding academic results in the city.

A variety of activities is being held under the framework of the nine-day event, including the ninth lion dance festival on September 21, which sees a competition between 18 teams in the city, a contest on arranging a traditional Mid-autumn feast, a lantern procession, folk games, circus acts, and children’s martial arts.

In addition, a fair is being held from September 10 to 24 along Hang Ma, Hang Luoc and Hang Ruoi streets and the pedestrian section from Hang Dao to Hang Giay streets, where booths are set up to introduce traditional Vietnamese moon cakes to visitors, the making of folk toys, and the art of flower arrangement and vegetable carving.

(BGO) – Various activities will be launched to welcome the Mid-Autumn Festival 2018 by the Councils of Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation (Pioneer Organisation) in Bac Giang province, districts and city in 100 percent of school pioneer unions and divisions of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (Youth Union) in the residential areas from the 12th to 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar targetting at a joyful, safe, practical and meaningful event.

Hundreds of lanterns will cast their glow across the pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, on the evening of September 23, the fourteenth day of the eighth lunar month.
 
Lion dance teams to celebrate mid-Autumn festival
Teams from China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam will compete in the International Kylin and Lion Dance competition at Da Nang’s Helio entertainment centre on September 14-16.
