National women’s football team starts training course in Japan

The national women’s football team left for a training course in Japan on April 17 to prepare for the upcoming 2023 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32).

The team arrived at Osaka city early this morning, starting their two-week training course at J-Green Dream Training Camp in the city.

During the course, the Vietnamese women’s team will play three friendly matches with women’s football clubs in Japan, including the Biwako Seikei Sport Collage on April 19, Cerezo Osaka Club on April 22, and Osaka University of Sport on April 26.

Previously on April 15, head coach Mai Duc Chung announced the list of 26 female players to participate in the training course.

The training course is an important exercise for the squad’s head coach and training board to evaluate each player before announcing the shortlist for SEA Games 32.

Before they departed for the training course, leaders of the Vietnam Sports Administration visited and encouraged the team to try their best to successfully defend the SEA Games championship title.

According to the SEA Games 32 football draw, the Vietnam women’s football team will play in Group A alongside the Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia. The women's football matches will take place at Army Stadium and Smart RSN Stadium from May 2-15.
