Nearly 300 athletes attend 2024 National Jujitsu Championship in Bac Giang

BAC GIANG – On the morning of September 12, the Vietnam Jujitsu Federation and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang organized the opening ceremony of the 2024 National Jujitsu Championship at the Provincial Gymnasium. 

The tournament attracted nearly 300 athletes from 28 delegations from provinces, cities and sectors with strong Jujitsu movements who will compete in the following categories: Newaza Gi, Newaza NoGi, Fighting, Contact, Show (male and female) in many different weight groups.

The Organizing Committee presents souvenir flags to the participating delegations.

The Bac Giang delegation has 30 athletes participating (22 men, 8 women) in the event, 50% of which were born in 2007 and 2008. Many outstanding athletes have competed and won Gold Medals at national championships and some medals at Asian tournaments such as: Do Thi Hoai Uyen, Ha Thi Anh Yen, Nguyen Hop Minh.

Bac Giang delegation targets to win 2-3 Gold Medals at the Tournament which will last till the end of September 16.

The Organizing Committee will award 51 sets of medals in the competition events to excellent athletes.

The 2024 National Jujitsu Championship is part of the annual national competition system. This is an opportunity for athletes to exchange, learn experiences, improve their performance.

The Newaza Gi match between martial artists Hoang Van Toan (Bac Giang, red belt) and athlete Duong Huy Cuong (Thai Binh) at 62kg weight group.

Also, it helps the coaching staff of provinces, cities and sectors review their forces and select outstanding athletes to participate in the 10th National Sports Festival held in 2026 and continental competitions.

Jujitsu is a martial art introduced to Vietnam about 10 years ago. Though Bac Giang province established Jujitsu team in March 2022, local athletes have won many gold medals in youth tournaments, national championships, National Sports Festivals and a number of medals in Asian tournaments.
