Netflix’s upcoming movie, ‘A Tourist’s Guide to Love,’ will be filmed in Vietnam next month, with the participation of international and local stars.

Directed by Steven Tsuchida, this is the first international production to film in Vietnam since the global pandemic.

Written by Vietnamese-American Eirene Donohue and inspired by her travels to explore her roots, the story follows a travel executive who experiences an unexpected breakup and decides to accept an assignment to learn about the tourism industry in Vietnam.

Along the way, she finds adventure and romance with her Vietnamese expat tour guide when they decide to hijack the tour bus to explore life and love off the beaten path.

The movie will feature stars like American actress Rachel Leigh Cook, Vietnamese-American actor Scott Ly and Vietnamese actresses Truc Tran and Le Thien.

"With Vietnam’s rich culture and breathtaking sites taking centerstage, the production will also involve over 200 local crew members and vendors including those in the production, domestic travel and retail industries," Netflix stated.

Rachael Leigh Cook, the main character and producer of the movie, said the film "presents a compelling love letter to Vietnam in all its glory, with heart and humor".

Born in 1979, Cook has featured in many movies likes 'The Baby-Sitters Club' (1995), 'She's All That' (1999), and 'Into the West' (2005).

Netflix, which launched its Vietnamese language website in October 2019, has 222 million subscribers in over 190 markets.
