This project will study to pilot a farming model of 6,000 freshwater pearl oysters.

This project will study to pilot a farming model of 6,000 freshwater pearl oysters, targetting at the post-implanted living rate of 80 percent; the rate of pearl production of 75 percent; the rate of nucleus retention of 55 percent after two years of culturing (2.2 nuclei retained per 4 nuclei implanted); the rate of first-class quality pearls of 30 percent, second-class quality pearls of 40 percent and third-class ones of 25 percent.

Truong Dinh Tung (born in 1992) in Dao Luoi hamlet, Dong Hung commune (Luc Nam district, Bac Giang province) is extracting the pearl.

It will also adopt technologies and complete technical procedures of freshwater pearl oyster culture, matching with the local conditions. Additionally, three technical staffs will be trained in pearl oyster implantation techniques while 50 people will be provided with training courses in culturing techniques.

This project is valued at over 945 million VND (41,400 USD), including 680 million VND (29,800 USD) supported from the provincial budget for scientific and technological services and over 265 million VND (11,630 USD) sourced from the counter-fund of the enterprises and local people.

It will be implemented for two years (from January 2018 to December 2019).
