The 9th “Dream on the wings” programme connects kind hearts for children
BAC GIANG- The academic year 2024-2025 is the 9th time the provincial Association for Protection of Child Rights (ACR), Bac Giang Newspaper and provincial Study Encouragement Association of Bac Giang province jointly held the “Dream on the wings” programme for impoverished children. Thanks to this programme, the scholarships and gifts of love have helped children to continue the ways to school and encouraged them to pursue study and reach the dreams for better life.
Starting from 2016, the “Dream on the wings” programme for impoverished children has been accompanied by hundreds of agencies, units, businesses and kind hearted people in the province, from nationwide and abroad.

“The Editorial Board of Bac Giang Newspaper always deeply acknowledges the social responsibilities and civic duties of journalists and reporters. We think that joining hands and sharing with needy people especially children are what we need to do”, said Trinh Van Anh, editor-in-chief of Bac Giang Newspaper, co-founder and organizer of “Dream on the wings” programme,
The programme has been strongly encouraged and supported by leaders of the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee.
After 8 times, the “Dream on the wings” programme has supported 1,727 impoverished children and this 9th programme is expected to help hundreds of needy children.
About 20 children enter university, 100 students awarded excellent titles and tens of students win high prizes at the contests for excellent students at the district, provincial and national levels each year, many of whom grow up and have stable jobs and good life.

Particularly, Tran Thi Ngoc Mai (born in 1998) in Tan My commune, Bac Giang city has been orphaned since she was only 2, who is very miserable. Mai has been cared by her uncle to continue going to school.
With her strong will and courage, the little girl always tries her best in study. She won excellent student titles for many consecutive years and high prizes at the contests for excellent students in Geography.
This good student received caring and sharing by organisations and kind hearts during the years at high school, of which the “Dream on the wings” programme gave her a scholarship from 2 to 3 million VND (80.5 to 120.7 USD) each year. Besides, she was supported with study expenses and school supplies for 3 academic years thanks to this programme.
Thanks to her excellent study results, Ngoc Mai was directly admitted to the gifted class, Faculty of Geography, Hanoi National University of Education. After graduating from university with honours, Ngoc Mai continued studying master programme. She will go back the hometown to teach at Viet Yen No 2 High School in the school year 2024-2025.
Similarly, the life of Nguyen Thi Linh in Trai Mit village, Dong Hung commune, Luc Nam district has become easier thanks to attention and support of the “Dream on the wings” programme and her teachers.
Via the programme, Linh was sponsored by a kind hearted person to finish her 3-year high school programme. After passing the high school graduation examination, Linh has been accepted to Hanoi University of Education 2.
Promoting the national solidarity tradition, the “Dream on the wings” programme has been maintained for 9 consecutive years adhering to the principle “no disadvantaged child is left behind”.
The success of the programme has been gained thanks to engagement of many sponsors such as Fuji Bac Giang Development Joint Stock Company, Bao Minh Bac Giang Company, Vinh Anh Trade and Service Company Limited and kind hearted people across the nation.
For the organizers, the biggest success is that it can give opportunities for many needy children to go to school and foster their belief in the humanity and good things in life.
In addition, the programme fuels them to overcome difficulties and cherish their aspirations to build a better future. It also helps to spread the spirit of solidarity and mutual support in the society, build more humanitarian families, seed and spread the kindness in young generation.
