Nguyen Binh Phuong, 59, won the award for 2022 for his novel “Mot Vi Du Xoang” (A Mediocre Example), which also earned him an award from the Vietnamese Writers’ Association in 2021.

He is currently editor-in-chief of the Van Nghe (Literature and Arts) Newspaper and the Military Literature and Arts Magazine.

Phuong has released six novels and five poem collections, many of which have been translated into English, French, and Korean.

Nguyen Mot, 60, was given the 2023 award for his novel “Tu Gio Thu Sau Den Gio Thu Chin” (From the 6th Hour to the 9th Hour), which also earned him an award of the Vietnamese Writers’ Association in 2023.

He has authored over 20 books in various genres, including novels, short stories, short novels, and memoirs.

Speaking to Nhan Dan’s correspondents in Thailand, writer Nguyen Mot highlighted the meaning of the literary award that literature will bring people closer together and better understand each other.

The S.E.A Write Award was launched in 1979 to honour outstanding writers and poets in the ASEAN region.
