Nguyen Quoc Thinh, coach of the VPA’s Military Medical Relay team, said that together with the changes in weather conditions, nutritious diets, and time zone, the maintenance of practising whilst still having to ensure pandemic prevention measures is also a challenge for the VPA soldiers participating in this year’s competition.
At the Army Games 2021, the VPA’s tank team will compete against strong crews in Group 1 after excellently winning the Gold Medal in Group 2 in last year’s Games. Col. Phan Hai Long, captain of the VPA tank team, stated that all officers and soldiers are in a comfortable mood and are fully aware of their duties as assigned by the leaders of the Defence Ministry and the Armour and Tank High Command. The team members are determined to compete with the best of their abilities for national pride and for the tradition of the heroic VPA.
Along with professional exercises to stand ready for competition at the Games, some teams of the VPA have prepared details imbued with Vietnamese identity to introduce to international friends through the event.
Tran Dang Viet, leader of the VPA cooking team participating in the “Field Kitchen” category, said that learning from previous versions, the team have made more careful preparations for this year’s event. The dishes to be presented at the Army Games 2021 are all imbued with the identities of Vietnam’s regions.
Unlike last year’s event, the Army Games 2021 has ranked cultural and artistic performances as one of the official competition contents for the first time, with the name “Army of Culture”. According to Sen. Lieut. Col. Dang My Hanh, captain of the VPA’s culture team, their task is to convey the quintessence of Vietnamese culture through their performances, as well as the tasks of the VPA in the new period.
Hanh said that to meet the requirements of the mission, the team’s repertoires will use illustrative images of Vietnam in reform and development. Every aspect, from costumes to the selection of musical instruments, performance works and styles, will be very Vietnamese.
Expressing his pleasure at welcoming the VPA delegation to the Army Games 2021 with a large force and participation in more contents, Maj. Gen.
