Updated: 16:05, 04/03/2021
(BGO) - Over the past time, the Party committees, authorities and political organizations in Bac Giang city in the province of the same name have paid much attention to vocational training and job placement. Amid the requirements in the new situation, the city has continued to implement many measures to improve the quality of human resources to meet the recruitment needs of businesses.

According to relevant agencies, in the 2017-2020 period, the city had more than 8,000 workers receiving vocational training, of which nearly 3,000 were trained at university, college or intermediate schools, and the rest attended short-term training courses. The number of new jobs created each year reached 2,500-2,800.

After training, many workers have been recruited to work at the Three Stars Joint Stock Company.

The city Women's Union said every year, it coordinates with relevant units to survey the needs and organize free vocational training courses on electrical equipment repair, sewing and silk flower making for workers. Since 2019, on average, the union has provided vocational training for more than 1,000 members. After training, 70 percent of the trainees were introduced to work in enterprises and cooperatives with stable income.

According to statistics, the rate of trained workers in the city now reaches 72 percent, nearly 4 percent higher than the province’s average. Thanks to professional skills, many workers in the city were accepted to work in enterprises inside and outside the province. According to Dang Thi Huong, Director of SHT Bac Hai Export Garment Joint Stock Company in Dinh Tri commune, in 2017-2018, the firm needed hundreds of trained garment workers to fulfill its orders in time. With the introduction of relevant agencies and local mass organizations, only in a short time, the enterprise recruited enough employees. In particular, many workers received vocational training, so they quickly adapted to the work.

With the goal of increasing the rate of trained workers to 80 percent by 2025 and improving human resources for socio-economic development, the Bac Giang city People's Committee has just implemented vocational training plans and put forth solutions to improve the quality of trained human resources in 2021-2025. Specifically, in this period, vocational education institutions inside and outside the city strive to enroll and train nearly 13,000 people, or nearly 2,600 students per year. The number of people to be trained at local vocational education institutions is expected to increase from 2,370 to 3,040. Trained workers with degrees and certificates will rise from 1,192 to 1,636 by 2025. At the same time, more than 90 percent of college graduates, over 85 percent of students graduated from high school, and 80 percent of workers with vocational training of less than 3 months are hoped to get jobs after training.

According to Nguyen Duc Luong, deputy head of the municipal Division of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, to accomplish these goals, the agency will coordinate with relevant units to strengthen communications, and combine vocational education with the labor market and job creation. In particular, it will focus on improving the quality of forecasting the needs for human resources and demand for employment and training; continue to improve a database on labour supply - demand; well implement mechanisms and policies to encourage enterprises to engage in vocational education activities; and create close connections between vocational training institutions and job service centers to assist job seekers after graduation.

Based on reality, some wards and communes will actively take measures to well perform this work in the coming time.
