Bac Giang plans production area towards modern agriculture
BAC GIANG - With the goal of developing modern and sustainable agriculture, Bac Giang province has recently paid due attention to developing and implementing many specific policies and solutions, focusing on reviewing, planning regions and arranging agricultural production space in a suitable and effective manner.
Clearly identifying the importance of agricultural production planning, on the basis of the approved Bac Giang Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, on January 18, 2023, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 100 approving the results of "Reviewing, updating, and editing digital maps of concentrated and specialized production areas, high-tech agricultural production areas in the province" (Decision No. 100) to have specific directions for agricultural development.

This decision specifies agricultural, forestry, livestock and high-tech agricultural areas for each locality. After clearly planning the crop and livestock areas, localities have implemented many solutions to support and promote the development of agricultural production.
In Luc Nam, the district clearly identified 59 concentrated crop production areas including rice, vegetables, peanuts, lychees, grapefruit, oranges, pineapples, custard apples, longans, medicinal herbs, etc.; 12 large-scale livestock farming areas (pigs, chickens, goats, buffaloes, cows) and 3 intensive aquaculture areas. This is a favorable condition for the district to promote the application of mechanization in production.
According to the statistics of the district Division of Agriculture and Rural Development, the current rate of mechanization in land preparation in the area is 98%, harvesting is 97% and transportation is over 74%.
Mechanization contributes to saving costs, liberating labor, ensuring crop seasons, preventing natural disasters towards building a modern agriculture.
Many mechanisms and policies have also been applied and implemented effectively. An Viet Cooperative in Bao Dai Commune (Luc Nam district) is one of many units that benefit from the policy.
Vu Anh Thai, Director of the Cooperative, said: “The Cooperative has about 30 hectares of vegetable growing located in the district agricultural production area. In recent years, the Cooperative has received financial support to expand the hothouse area, grant VietGAP certification. The intra-field canal system in the production area has been renovated and upgraded. More training in cultivation techniques has been provided together with trade promotion activities, helping facilitate the production activities. Each year, the Cooperative grows 2-3 crops of various melons with a revenue of about 5 billion VND and a profit of about 1.5 billion VND”.
In Viet Yen township, the locality focuses on developing industry, urban areas and services, but agricultural production still plays an important role, contributing to providing food for people, serving kitchens in industrial parks and clusters, schools and hospitals.

Other districts and city also focus on developing key, local products in concentrated and specialized production areas in accordance with approved planning.
At the same time, the localities improve the quality and efficiency of economic development models for households and groups of households through farmer-farmer linkages to concentrate land and reorganize specialized production.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the coming time, the localities need to further optimize their potential and strengths in production to increase the value of agricultural products, increase competitiveness in the market; focus on building a comprehensively developed agriculture in a modern and sustainable direction.
