Bac Giang PPC Chairman Le Anh Duong attends great solidarity house handover ceremony in Tan Yen district

BAC GIANG- Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province (PPC) Le Anh Duong on May 7 attended the inauguration and handover ceremony of a great solidarity house for the poor household in Lan Gioi commune, Tan Yen district. The event was also attended by Tran Cong Thang, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Chairman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

The great solidarity house was given to Nguyen Thi Thom (born in 1947) in Chinh Lan village. Thom is a poor old woman who is weak and unable to work. She has lived in a deteriorated old house for years.

The new building handed over to Thom includes a 50 square metre house, auxiliary work and a 60 square metre concreted ground. The total construction cost valued at 200 million VND (7,855 USD) including 130 million VND (5,106 USD) mobilised from organizations, units and kind hearted people by the Steering Committee for eliminating temporary and ramshackle houses of Tan Yen district and 70 million VND (2,749 USD) from Thom’s relatives. Besides, the local government and unions contributed working days to build the house.

PPC Chairman Le Anh Duong, Chairman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee Tran Cong Thang, leaders and representatives of the unions of Tan Yen district presented Thom many gift packages at the great solidarity house handover ceremony.

Speaking at the event, PPC Chairman Le Anh Duong highly appreciated the results and creative methods of Tan Yen district in supporting to eliminate temporary and ramshackle houses for poor, nearly poor and needy households.

He hoped the all-level party committee, government and unions in Tan Yen district to continue promoting propaganda to mobilise people of all strata, kind hearted people, units and businesses to support people facing housing difficulties, thereby helping them to settle down and develop their family economy.

Particularly, he requested the local government and people of Chinh Lan village to pay regular attention, help and encourage Thom to improve her health and living.

In implementing the programme on eliminating temporary and ramshackle houses for poor and nearly poor households and national contributors who face housing difficulties, 26 out of 36 houses have been completed in the district since early this year while the other 4 houses are expected to complete by June15.
